Brooks City Base dedicates restoration project

The project cost over $500,000 to complete

SAN ANTONIO – A major restoration project has been completed at the former Brooks Air Force Base.

On Monday, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the completion of the Sidney Brooks Gravesite Restoration Project.

The project cost just over half-million dollar to complete, and was funded by the city's 2012 bond program.

The space provides visitors easier access to the memorial. The hope is that the project will complement future work being done to other buildings at the heart of the campus.

Second Lt. Sidney J. Brooks Jr. was the first person from San Antonio to lose his life in WWI.
