Firefighters rescue elderly couple from burning home

Fire started in a front bedroom late Sunday night

SAN ANTONIO – An elderly couple was rescued from a burning home on Valentine's Day, fire officials said Monday.

The fire was first reported around 11:30 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Linden Avenue on the city's Southwest Side.

Investigators said the fire started in a front bedroom before spreading to the rest of the home. Firefighters said it took roughly 25 minutes to put out the flames.

The elderly couple who lived inside the home made it out safely without injury.

Officials said there is not yet an estimate of damage, and that the fire was accidental.
