Officer fires shot at suspect in late night robbery

Police say suspect pulled gun before officer fired

SAN ANTONIO – A police officer fired a shot at a suspect in a late night robbery after the man first pulled a gun on the officer.

The shooting happened after the park police officer spotted a suspect in a robbery at the Valero store at W. W. White and Southcross roads.

Investigators with San Antonio police said the park officer tried to question the suspect, but the man pulled a gun.

They said the park officer then fired a shot from his own service weapon, but did not hit the suspect.

Police said the man then ran off.

Officers searched with dogs and the police Eagle helicopter, but did not find the suspect.
