San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department operates 23 free public pools

SAN ANTONIO – Break out your sunscreen and chanclas because the San Antonio public pool swim season is here!

The summer swim season officially kicks off Saturday when all of San Antonio’s 23 public pools open to the public.

All outdoor pools are open Tuesday through Sunday, June 10 - August 13, and admission is free.

Pools will be open Tuesday, July 4.

Five Outdoor Pools Open Swim 2 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Lap swim at four Regional Pools Tuesday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

South Side Lions, 3100

Hiawatha Woodlawn, 221 Alexander Ave.

World’s Largest Swimming Lesson

On Thursday, June 22, the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department will participate in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, an international initiative to “build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning.”

The lesson is free and open to youth ages four and up. For a list of participating pools and registration information visit the department’s pool webpage.
