BCSO: Drunk man leads deputies on chase near airport, Alamo Quarry Market

K-9, helicopter called out after man ditched car, evaded deputies on foot

SAN ANTONIO – Deputies believe a man was drunk when he led them on a wild chase near the San Antonio International Airport early Sunday morning.

A deputy spotted the man driving erratically on Loop 410 East around 1:30 a.m., but when the deputy attempted to pull him over the driver took off.

The deputy pursued the man down 281 South near the airport, then down to the Quarry, up Nacogdoches to North New Braunfels Avenue.

The driver jumped a curb before hitting a light pole in the parking lot of the Barn Door Restaurant in the 2800 block of North New Braunfels Avenue, then evaded authorities on foot.

Deputies brought out K-9s with the San Antonio Police Department and a search helicopter. Authorities found and arrested the driver after a 20 minute search.

Authorities say he will be charged with evading arrest on foot, evading arrest in a car and driving while intoxicated.
