Vigil held for man killed street racing
Victim's girlfriend injured, is doing OK
SAN ANTONIO – Family and friends gathered Monday night to remember a man killed while he was street racing over the weekend.
Blue balloons lined the area where Oscar Chavez, 23, died.
Police said Chavez was killed Saturday night after he lost control of his car on Research Plaza on the city's South Side.
His cousin said they were testing out Chavez's new Camaro.
His friends described the man as a car enthusiast during the vigil.
Chavez's girlfriend was in the passenger seat and is doing OK.
Chavez leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter.
Police arrested Camron Sanchez Vasquez; they believe he was in the other car involved in the race.
