SAN ANTONIO – Three shootings within an eight-hour hour period between Monday night and Tuesday morning have had San Antonio police investigators working overtime and left East Side residents rattled.
The gunfire began around 9 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Blue Bonnet Street.
Officers at the scene released very few details.
However, they did confirm that a man found his nephew suffering from gunshot wounds outside his home, and that the victim died.
Shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday, they were called back to the same area, one street over.
Someone with a rifle fired more than a dozen shots toward an apartment building in the 500 block of Blaine Street, police said.
Instead, some of the gunfire hit two parked cars.
While police were investigating that shooting, the sound of gunfire could be heard in the distance.
A few minutes later, officers received a call for shots fired in the 2000 block of E. Crockett Street.
There, they said they found a home with eight to 10 bullet holes in it.
The man who lives there told officers he and his girlfriend were asleep when they heard the sound of bullets hitting their home.
No one was hurt in either of the Tuesday morning shootings.
Although the two shootings involved different types of weapons, police said they are investigating whether the same person or people may be responsible for both.
They also were not sure whether there was any link between them and the Monday night fatal shooting.
