Fire damages vacant home on city's near Northwest Side

Fire reported just after 5 a.m. in 1400 block of West Hollywood Ave

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio firefighters responded to a vacant house fire on the near Northwest Side early Thursday morning.

The fire was reported just after 5 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Hollywood Avenue, located not far from Interstate 10 and West Hildebrand.

According to officials at the scene, the fire is in a house that has no working utilities. The same house had a fire in its garage about a year ago.

The fire began in a back room inside the home and spread into the attic, causing some minor damage to the carport on a home next door, firefighters said.

No one was hurt. Arson is investigating the cause.
