Girlfriend seeks answers to 19-year-old's shooting death

Brandon Pizana, 19, found dead Tuesday morning

SAN ANTONIO – The girlfriend of a teen shot dead in their home is hoping she can get some answers.

Officers found the body of Brandon Pizana, 19, in his South Side home in the 200 block of Montrose Street.

Giovanna Garcia, Pizana's girlfriend, said she had been asleep in the next room when he was shot.

"I was laying on the bed, on that side. Then I heard a commotion in the kitchen and a pop," Garcia said. "When I woke up, he was, like, here on the floor."

Garcia said she immediately called 911.

"I was holding him, right here," Garcia said, "I tried everything I could do, but there was so much blood everywhere."

When San Antonio police first arrived Tuesday morning, they found guns on the scene, and one close to Pizana’s body.

At the time, police believed Pizana's death was a suicide, but new evidence changed the investigation.

"The investigators started putting things and seeing what added up and what didn't add up," said Officer Doug Greene, with the San Antonio Police Department. "And everything points to this being a homicide and not a suicide."

Garcia said she, Pizana and his younger brother had been in the home at the time of the shooting and that the front door had been wide open.

"We're just so shocked about what happened," Darlene Isley, Garcia's mother, said. "We don't know exactly what happened. We don't know if somebody came in and did something to him. We don't know. We just want some answers."

"He was a good guy," Garcia said. "He did everything for me. We did everything together. There wasn't a day that we were separate. I just miss him so much. He doesn't deserve this at all."

Greene said police are following a few leads, but at this point, there are no suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call SAPD's Homicide Unit at 210-207-7635.
