SAN ANTONIO - A man is accused of firing a BB gun at a 13-year-old boy.

Jeffery Thornton Jr. has been charged with causing injury to a child, which is a felony.

The BB gun was empty when it was fired, authorities said Tuesday.

Thornton is also accused of hitting the boy in the face with an open palm. Police said he is the boyfriend of the boy's mother.

The alleged attack happened Friday and Thornton was arrested Tuesday.
