Groups are requesting remains of soldiers killed in Battle of San Jacinto be moved.

SAN ANTONIO – Several groups protested outside the Mexican Consulate's office in San Antonio Monday and demanded the remains of Mexican soldiers killed in the Battle of San Jacinto be moved to the Alamo.

The groups said they wanted those soldiers to receive a proper burial.

As part of their protest, the groups sent letters to President Barack Obama and Mexican president Felipe Calderon, requesting the remains be buried at the Alamo.

"The true heroes at the Alamo were defending the enslaved people of Texas," Ronald Rocha with the Coalition for Education Reform said. "The Battle of the Alamo was fought over slavery, so the Mexican soldiers that were there were defending the laws of Mexico and this was Mexico."

So far there has not been a response from officials in Washington or Mexico.
