VIA bus driver crashes into downtown building after accident with pickup truck

Police say pickup truck driver ran red light before hitting bus

SAN ANTONIO – A VIA bus driver crashed into a downtown building Saturday morning, but authorities said the crash came after the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light and hit the VIA bus.

The bus driver was headed east on Quincy Avenue and the pickup truck driver was headed north on Lexington just before 10:30 a.m. when the driver of the pickup truck ran a red light and hit the VIA bus, police said.

The VIA bus driver then crashed into a building in the 300 block of Quincy Avenue.

There were no passengers aboard the bus at the time of the accident and the driver of the bus was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, VIA said in a tweet.

An online search of the address where the bus crashed shows that the building leases out office space to medical professionals.

I'm at Quincy and Lexington where a truck ran a red light and hit a VIA bus sending the bus into an office building.
