Texas State Bobcats talk 'bounce back year' at 2017 Media Day

Season kicks off on Sept. 2

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State football held its Football Media Day at Bobcat Stadium on Sunday where they talked about rebounding from their 2-10 record last season.

Head coach Everett Withers, entering his second season at Texas State, said he feels better about the 2017 season.

“These kids have all been fun to be around and it’s been a breath of fresh air,” Withers said. “Opposed to 18 months ago, I didn’t feel the buy-in, totally, from the roster. Now we’ve got to go get better as a football team. Now we can take culture and say okay, we are building that.”

Inside linebacker Bryan London II was a bright spot last season, finishing second in the FBS with 141 tackles. He’s excited about the regular season starting in less than two weeks.

“We are all excited. I love football, so I’ve been waiting for a long time," London said. "I feel like two weeks is still too long for me.

The Bobcats also have a highly anticipated out-of-conference game against the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners on Sept. 23 in San Marcos.
