Deputies are investigating what appears to be a โheinous murder attemptโ after a man was found tied up and critically injured on the side of a road in East Bexar County, according to Sheriff Javier Salazar.
Fire marshal suspects heater caused fire in East Bexar County storage facility
SAN ANTONIO โ The Bexar County Fire Marshal is blaming a heater for a fire that damaged several units at a commercial storage facility. It caused damage to as many as six units at the business, located on Highway 87 East near Stuart Road. Fire trucks lined the highway in front of the business as firefighters worked to put out the flames. Wednesday morning, some of the renters of the burned storage units returned to sort through the debris. However, a report from the fire marshal said there were six units as well as several vehicles that were damaged.
Woman shot, killed in driveway minutes after rollerskating in northeast Bexar County, sheriff says
SAN ANTONIO โ A 24-year-old woman was shot and killed minutes after she was rollerskating in northeast Bexar County, Sheriff Javier Salazar said. Giovanna Barrera, 24, was killed in the 7600 block of Tarrasa Wednesday afternoon, Salazar said. Barrera, a known rollerskating enthusiast, was exercising in the area before she was shot one time in the upper torso area, the sheriff said. Previously, the department had said the suspected vehicle was a black and silver PT Cruiser. The suspected vehicle also has โdistinctive aftermarket rims,โ Salazar said.
17-year-old girl killed in crash while heading to school in Wilson County
ADKINS, Texas โ A 17-year-old girl pulling her truck out of the driveway was hit and killed by an oncoming car early Friday morning, the Texas Department of Public Safety said. The crash happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of US Highway 87 near Oak Park Road. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the teen was trying to turn left onto eastbound Hwy 87 and was heading to La Vernia High School when she was hit by the westbound car. The eastbound lanes of Highway 87 were closed as emergency crews worked at the scene. The westbound lanes, however, remained open.
Medical Examiner identifies woman killed in rollover crash in far East Bexar County
EAST BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ The Bexar County Medical Examinerโs Office has identified a woman killed in a rollover crash in far East Bexar County early Tuesday morning. Adriana Moore, 31, was killed in a crash that occurred just after midnight on southbound FM 1518, not far from Loop 1604. According to deputies, Moore was traveling at a high-rate of speed when she lost control of her truck and rolled it several times. Deputies said the truck took out some poles and rolled for roughly 75 yards before finally coming to a stop. A witness driving behind the truck told deputies that they were coming from a party in the area and saw the crash happen.

EAST BEXAR COUNTY, Texas โ A woman in her 20s is dead after she was ejected during a rollover vehicle crash in far East Bexar County early Tuesday morning, the Bexar County Sheriffโs Office said. The crash occurred just after midnight on southbound FM 1518, not far from Loop 1604. According to deputies, the woman was traveling at a high-rate of speed when she lost control of her truck and rolled it several times. A witness driving behind the woman told deputies that they were coming from a party in the area and saw the crash happen. Authorities say the crash is still in the clearing stages and that emergency crews will be in the area for the next several hours.
Firefighters fight flames at empty home in East Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO โ Area firefighters battled flames at an empty home in East Bexar County early Thursday morning. The fire was called in just before 4 a.m. in 4400 block of Stuart Road, not far from Highway 87. Firefighters said they arrived to find the home fully-engulfed, and that they had to fight the fire defensively. According to the family who owned the home, the house was their grandmotherโs who passed away a just a month ago. New relatives were scheduled to move into the property tomorrow, they said.
