SAN ANTONIO โ A shipment of Modernaโs COVID-19 vaccine was well received by staff at an allergy clinic in Olmos Park on Wednesday. โRight now, the priority for phase one is our health care workers and also those people living in long term health care facilities that are of older age and higher risk,โ Gonzalez said. Additionally, she became the first health care worker to be vaccinated against COVID-19 at STAAMP. But with the importance of this vaccine, health care workers there say they see the opportunity to administer it as a gift in itself. Firefighters dodge danger from live ammunition inside burning home in Olmos Park
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS โ Flames and smoke were only part of the concern for firefighters as they battled a fire in a home in Olmos Park Wednesday morning. Soon after crews arrived in the 100 block of Paloma Drive around 8 a.m., it became clear they also had to worry about live ammunition inside the home. As you know itโs pretty popular and common for residents to have ammunition,โ said Chief Michael Goodreau with the Olmos Park Fire Department. (KSAT 12 News)Alamo Heights firefighters assisted Olmos Park with the use of a ladder truck, and crews from Terrell Hills helped out on the ground. They arrived later and stood by watching helplessly as firefighters struggled with flames that, for about an hour, refused to die.
Ammunition goes off as firefighters respond to house fire in Olmos Park
OLMOS PARK, Texas โ Firefighters have responded to a fire at a single-story home in Olmos Park early Wednesday morning. The fire was called in around 8 a.m. at a home in the 100 block of Paloma Drive, not far from McCullough Avenue and Basse Road. Firefighters said when they arrived they found flames coming from the roof. Authorities say two people live inside the house, but that neither were home at the time of the fire. Police said ammunition inside the home at one point went off, forcing firefighters to back off.
Motorcyclist, SUV both crash at roundabout in Olmos Park, police say
OLMOS PARK, Texas โ The Olmos Park Police Department is investigating a pair of wrecks at a roundabout early Friday morning. Officers were called around 2 a.m. to a roundabout on McCullough Avenue after receiving word of a motorcyclist being thrown off a bike. According to police, during the investigation of the motorcycle crash, a sport utility vehicle slammed on its brakes, hitting the roundabout, damaging the front tires. The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by EMS for road rash. An officer said the driver of the SUV was distracted by a passenger, but was not injured.
