Edinburg teen dies in one-vehicle crash early Saturday morning
The Texas Department of Public Safety said an Edinburg teen was speeding early Saturday morning when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. Jasmine Lorrane Heredia, 17, died at the scene, DPS said in a news release Tuesday. The fatal single-vehicle crash happened north of Wisconsin Road on Tower Road at approximately 3:36 a.m. Saturday. A preliminary investigation indicates that Heredia drove a 1999 Ford Expedition northbound on Tower Road at an unsafe speed and failed to drive in a single lane, traveling onto the east side of the roadway and then veering to the left, causing the vehicle to travel into a right side skid before crashing into a utility police, according to the release. DPS on Saturday said troopers continue to investigate the crash.

Missing Brownsville teen found; to be reunited with parents
A 13-year-old Brownsville teen who was reported missing on Saturday has been found and is to be reunited with her parents, Brownsville police said. The girl was found at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning by Mansfield Police, along with 18-year-old Clayton Phillips. He is being held at the Tarrant County Jail waiting extradition, police said. Brownsville police received a call about 3:46 p.m. Saturday that the teenage girl was missing and it was believed that Phillips had taken her. It is not immediately known how the teenage girl and Phillips met.

According to police, several teens were secretly handling the gun and thats when it accidentally went off. Police said two teenage girls were home with a grandparent who was asleep and did not know that the 13-year-old boy had snuck into the house. Investigators say it appears the 13-year-old was reaching for the gun and may have grabbed it wrong, causing it to discharge and hit himself in the chest. Police said they believe the gun did not come from the house and that it may have been stolen.
