SAN ANTONIO – On Thursday, officials with the Transportation Security Administration and San Antonio International Airport offered some helpful air travel tips for the holidays.
Security officers demonstrated some new checkpoint screening procedures for large electronics.
Beginning Jan. 1, any electronic device larger than a cellphone will need to be removed from your carry-on and screened separately, including tablets and portable speakers.
Officials said wrapped gifts are barred from being carry-on items.
"As much as I love to unwrap gifts during the holiday season, I don't want to unwrap yours. So make sure that if it is wrapped," said TSA officer Alexandra Gorena. "Like I said, make sure it's in something accessible, like a bag or in one of these boxes that you're able to open up."
Airport officials urge flyers to arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled flight.
AAA estimates 6.4 million people will be flying over the holidays.
