Taco Bell celebrates 'Manu Ginobili Day' by offering a free crunchy taco

Offer is available for stop in or drive-through on Thursday Aug. 30

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio area fast-food restaurant is offering a free crunchy taco to those who visit in honor of "Manu Ginobili Day".

Taco Bell made the announcement early Thursday morning.

The free taco promotion takes place all day at participating locations and is available to guests who either stop in or do drive-through. All guests have to do is mention Manu Ginobili Day.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg declared Thursday as "Manu Ginobili Day" in a proclamation on Monday.

Ginobili, 41, announced his plans to retire after 16 seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, which included four NBA championships.

He is one of only two players, along with Bill Bradley, to have won a EuroLeague title, an NBA championship and an Olympic gold medal.

His retirement officially ends the Spurs' "Big Three" era, after Tim Duncan's own retirement and Tony Parker's exit this offseason to the Charlotte Hornets via free agency. The trio are the winningest trio in NBA history.
