Arrests made in two theft casess

Slade Priest, Michael Beltran face charges

SAN ANTONIO – Two men were arrested in cases in which they're accused of taking other people's property.

Slade Priest, 24, and Michael Beltran, 29, were arrested Thursday. Priest is charged with burglary of a vehicle and Beltran faces a charge of theft.

San Antonio police said a witness identified Priest as one of two men who he saw steal a giant Yeti cooler from the back of a pickup.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the witness told police that Priest and the other man used bolt cutters to remove a cable lock that held the cooler to the truck and then took the cooler.

The affidavit stated the incident happened June 6 in the parking lot of Bass Pro Shops at The Rim shopping center.

Police said the witness was able to identify both men in a photo lineup.

As of Friday morning, it was not clear whether the second man, identified in the affidavit as Peter Ritz, 23, had been arrested.

In a separate case, Michael Beltran, 29, is accused of leaving a Home Depot store on Southwest Military Drive with items that he had not paid for.

An arrest warrant affidavit stated that the items, taken on June 23, were worth about $69.
