Police: Suspect found with fake license, stolen mail in motel room

Arthur Pacheco, 41, faking charges related to ID theft

SAN ANTONIO – A suspect identified as Arthur Pacheco, 41, has been arrested on charges of fraudulent use of ID and tampering with a government record after San Antonio police and other investigators were called to a Northwest Side motel. 

An arrest affidavit stated that a clerk at a motel in the 11700 block of Interstate 10 West called police on March 11 after noticing that Pacheco used a counterfeit license to check-in. 

Police said they also discovered the name on the room registration card was one that was listed among those who were wanted by the U.S. Postal Service. 

During a search of the motel room, investigators said they found a check which belonged to a 75-year-old women and had been stolen from the mail, as well as other items, the affidavit stated.  

Pacheco was not taken into custody at the time, the affidavit stated. However, a subsequent investigation led to his arrest on Monday.
