Smoke from North Side high-rise has firefighters search for flames

SAFD spent hour going floor to floor; smoke caused by circuit breaker

SAN ANTONIO – A high-rise was searched for a fire after passers-by could see smoke billowing, investigators said Monday.

The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Sunday in a building located in the 13700 block of U.S. Highway 281 North near Bitters Road on the city's North Side.

Firefighters spent almost an hour going floor to floor searching for flames, but could not find a fire inside. They said no one was inside the building at the time of the smoke.

Firefighters determined the smoke was caused by an overheated circuit breaker.

It is not known how much damage was caused by the smoke.
