BCSO: Argument may have led to deadly shooting in south Bexar County

Man, 53, shot multiple times inside mobile home

SAN ANTONIO, TX – An argument appears to have led to the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found inside his mobile home Wednesday in south Bexar County, according to James Keith, a Bexar County Sheriff's Office spokesman.

Keith said the case is still under investigation, but detectives believe shots may have been fired inside and outside the trailer.

Dispatchers received a 911 call around 4 a.m. from someone who heard the gunfire on Belen Street. Deputies found the victim lying just inside in the doorway, Keith said.

"Neighbors tell us that they heard multiple gunshots, then they saw a car drive off. The car then returns and more shots were fired," Keith said.

The neighbors caught only a glimpse of the vehicle, described as a four-door silver car, as it left the crime scene. They were not able to provide a more detailed description due to how dark it was in the area, Keith said.

Neighbors also were unable to shed much light on the victim, a 53-year-old man who apparently was the only person living in the trailer.

"According to neighbors, he was a, kind of, loner. They didn't really know him," Keith said.

As of 10 a.m., the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office had not made a positive identification of the victim.

Sheriff's detectives are investigating the case as a homicide.
