Military families receive food baskets

Soldiers' Angels, San Antonio Food Bank help local military families

SAN ANTONIO – Some 200 military families were given food baskets on Wednesday in appreciation for their services.

Most of those stopping by were veterans or wounded warriors struggling to make ends meet.

Veteran Willie Rogers was recently homeless and said getting the basket helps him and his family.

"This is great, because it allows me to provide food and stuff for my family," Rogers said.

Soldiers' Angels is a nonprofit organization created by the mother of two American soldiers. Each month, the mobile food pantry is open at the Titan Building at 2700 Northeast Loop 410.

"It's important for us to remember all the veterans and be able to serve this population as well," Amy Palmer with Soldiers' Angels said.
