1994 murders of woman, teen in East side home still unsolved

Christy Kaufman, Debbie Perkins shot by man looking for someone else

SAN ANTONIO – A gunman looking for a man in a home on San Antonio's East side instead shot the man's girlfriend and a teenage girl, according to police. Police said the killer left and has not been caught.

San Antonio police said they have been looking for the man since Feb. 21, 1994.

The suspect went to a home on the 100 block of Fredonia Street around 1 a.m., police said. Debbie Perkins, 23, let the man inside.

Police said the man was looking for her boyfriend. That man was not in the home at the time.

"An argument was heard by a witness in the back room before multiple gunshots were heard," police said.

Perkins and Christy Kaufman, 15, both died from their injuries. Photos of the victims were not available.
