SAN ANTONIO – More than 20 people were honored by the Bexar County Sheriff's Office on Thursday.
In one case, one deputy was hurt while responding to a call for a man who threatened to set a home on fire with a child inside.
There were also awards for members of the community who went above and beyond in the funeral preparations for K-9 Chucky. The K-9 officer was shot and killed in January after he was deployed to take down a suspect involved in a chase.
Sheriff Javier Salazar said he wanted to show his appreciation for the people who stepped up in the Sheriff's Office's time of need.
