San Antonio police arrested a suspected serial burglar on Wednesday, according to the department.

Investigators believe Vara stole multiple things, including money, electronics, lawn equipment and jewelry. Police are still working to see if they can recover any of the stolen items and return them to their owners.

The burglaries were reported at homes on S. Trinity Street, Pendleton Avenue and Southolme, in neighborhoods not far from downtown San Antonio, Rodriguez said.

Police believe Vara may be responsible for other burglaries in the area. Anyone with information on him is asked to contact police at 210-207-7990.

As the holidays approach, Rodriguez said the recent arrest is a good reminder for residents to take additional precautions to keep their property safe.

“We’re asking residents and business owners to please be extra vigilant and do your part to secure your home,” she said.

Rodriguez also recommended homeowners install surveillance cameras to assist police if a burglary does occur.

“We understand it’s a little bit of a charge, but that really helps us in the long run,” she said.

Records show Vara has other pending charges from past incidents, including burglary of a building and evading arrest.
