Southwest Airlines plane makes emergency landing after taking off from SAT

Airliner says mechanical issue happened after takeoff

SAN ANTONIO – A Southwest Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing at San Antonio International Airport shortly after takeoff.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. Monday on a flight that was headed to Baltimore.

Flight 1005 was carrying 139 passengers and five crew members.
