Popeye's brawl caught on-camera, goes viral on social media

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Popeye’s employees in San Marcos are serving more than just fried chicken to their customers -- they’re battering up fists.

In a 34-second video originally posted to Twitter Tuesday evening, a handful of Popeye’s employees and their customers were seen fighting each other behind the restaurant’s counter in an all-out brawl.

The manager, wearing a blue shirt, is also seen in the video fighting with one of the customers, stomping her as the unidentified woman falls to the floor.

The fight ends with two women on the floor near the store’s entrance inside the restaurant, continuing to pull each other’s hair as others attempt to flee the Popeye’s.

The video has since gone viral on social media, with the original Twitter user commenting, “Popeye’s in San Marcos on a Tuesday…”

In the video, some of the women are seen wearing shirts themed with Texas State University’s mascot.

The university is just 51 miles north of downtown San Antonio in San Marcos, with the only Popeye’s restaurant in the college town located less than a mile from the campus at 1628 Aquarena Springs Drive.

The video has since collected over 7,000 retweets and more than 11,000 likes, with some chiming in saying they’re not surprised by the incident at that particular Popeye’s.

“This is always the worse Popeye’s I’ve ever been to (and) I’m not surprised this finally happened,” one Twitter user said.
