A local nonprofit dedicated to creating a beautiful, welcoming and safe downtown San Antonio is looking to help local small businesses get their own storefronts -- free of charge -- in an effort to bring more people and more investment into the downtown area.

It will ‘snow’ in downtown San Antonio this Saturday at drive-thru holiday event
SAN ANTONIO – Bet you didn’t think you’d get a chance to drive through the snow this holiday season in San Antonio, did you? Well, you can from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at a free holiday drive-thru event hosted by Hemisfair and Centro San Antonio. Centro, courtesy of Mireles Ice, is bringing 110,400 pounds of ice to the event to create the magic of man-made snow, according to event officials. Here’s what organizers want you to know before you head to the event:Entrance to the Holiday Drive-Thru is on Hemisfair Blvd and East Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. Centro Ambassadors will help keep traffic moving in order to ensure as many families as possible have a chance to experience this free event.
San Antonio officials hope to address climate change in new city design competition
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio officials hope to address climate change in a new city design competition by utilizing architecture to help cool the area. District 1 Councilman Roberto Trevino teamed up with the American Institute of Architects of San Antonio and Centro San Antonio for the project. “In San Antonio, it’s really hot. The design competition challenges design teams to create shade structures that the city can utilize to help cool areas. “This is important as part of our overall infrastructure as a city, as we promote more pedestrians being able to walk all over our city,” Trevino said.
Word art in downtown San Antonio brings message of joy
SAN ANTONIO Next time you drive through downtown San Antonio, keep your eyes on the road to see the newly installed art mural. Surrounding Travis Park on East Pecan, Jefferson and Travis streets, youll notice yellow letters that make up San Antonio Poet Laureate, Andrea Vocab Sandersons words that celebrate dark skin. (KSAT)According to Vocab Sanderson, the poetry is meant to bring joy as well as amplify the 2020 Civil Rights Movements call for systematic reforms.
