Driver extracted from vehicle after crash into tanker truck dies from injuries, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A 45-year-old man who had to be cut from his vehicle after he crashed into a tanker truck Wednesday morning has died from his injuries, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 1 a.m. in the 10500 block of Roosevelt Avenue, not far from Loop 410 on the cityโs South Side. The driver, identified as 44-year-old, Angel Baltazar, was traveling southbound on Roosevelt Avenue at a high rate of speed when he crashed his pickup truck into a tanker truck pulling out of a refinery, police said. He was extracted from his vehicle by firefighters and taken to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition. Police did not say exactly why the crash happened.
Police suspect man hit while walking on Loop 410 access road had been drinking
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police say a man who was hit by a pickup truck while walking along the access road of a South Side highway apparently had been drinking shortly before the crash. Officers found a 60-year-old man down on the access road of Loop 410 near Roosevelt Avenue early Tuesday morning. Police said it does not appear the pickup driver was to blame. They say shortly before the crash, they had begun receiving calls about a man initially walking on the highway, then down the middle of the access road. Officers said when they found the injured man, he was able to talk to them and asked where his beer was.
SAPD: 1 dead, 2 wounded in exchange of gunfire at motel and nearby gas station
SAN ANTONIO โ One person is dead and two people were wounded in an exchange of gunfire on the cityโs South Side early Thursday morning, San Antonio police said. According to police, an altercation involving eight people started at a motel and then spilled to a nearby Shell gas station parking lot. Police said a man entered a motel room just before some type of altercation occurred. Investigators say a 40-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 39-year-old man was shot in the hand during the gunfire in the motel room. The man wounded at the gas station was taken to a Brooke Army Medical Center for his injuries where heโs expected to recover.
