NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – George P. Bush laid out his political vision during his keynote address at the Texas Legislative Conference on Friday afternoon.
The aspiring politician touched upon a variety of issues, including education reform, regulatory and taxation reform, and veterans affairs.

As it turns out, Bush has strong ties to San Antonio, by way of his military service.
"In fact, I still conduct my weekend drills in your largest suburb: San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base," Bush said.
Bush, who is running for Texas Land Commissioner, also spoke at length about how foreign imports of oil have been on the rise in recent decades, and South Texas' role in reversing that trend.
"We in the next 30 years need to reverse that trend to be a net exporting country," Bush said. "Thanks to science and technology in the energy industry, we've already seen the Eagle Ford Shale provide that potential opportunity."
The son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush also reference closed business ties with individuals from San Antonio.
Geroge P. Bush received a very warm reception at the conference. He got a standing ovation at the end of his address to the conference. Whether or not that translates into political success in the future remains to be seen.
