SAN ANTONIO – A Selma woman is accused of trying to steal a former police officer's identity and obtain several lines of credit.
An arrest warrant affidavit stated Mirnaliz Rodriguez, 41, admitted she found a wallet last January which happened to belong to a retired police officer.

The wallet contained the man's drivers license, credit cards, retired officer's badge and Medicare card which had his social security number printed on it, the affidavit stated.
San Antonio police said they discovered someone had tried to use the victim's personal information online about 20 times to obtain lines of credit.
However, the victim had an identity theft prevention program in place, the affidavit stated.
Later, police said Rodriguez made arrangements to obtain a bank loan using the wallet owner's social security number and a variation of his name.
The affidavit stated that detectives were watching when she showed up at the bank, along with a 71-year-old woman.
Police believe Rodriguez convinced the woman to present phony documents at the bank, pretending to be the person who applied for the loan, the affidavit stated.
Detectives took both the woman and Rodriguez into custody for questioning. Although they thwarted the alleged fraud in February, records show police did not obtain a warrant for Rodriguez's arrest until August.
Rodriguez was booked into the Bexar County Jail Tuesday on a charge of fraudulent use of identifying information.
