Police seize vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run on Northwest Side

Accident occurred on westbound access road of Loop 1604

SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after being hit by a vehicle on the Northwest Side overnight.

(UPDATE: 6:50 a.m.)

San Antonio police have seized a dark colored Mercedes sedan from the parking lot of the Madera apartments in the 8200 block of Hausman.

The police believe this was the car involved in the fatal accident on the loop 1604 access road.

KSAT 12 has learned that the police are also talking to a person of interest. The car was found police said by following a trail of oil that led from the scene to the location more than a mile away.

The incident was reported around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday on the westbound access road of Loop 1604 past Babcock road, near both Red Robin and Kyle Seale Parkway.

San Antonio police said a passerby originally found the man. The man had been hit by a vehicle and died. 

They say the man's age is somewhere between 40 and 60.

Police have yet to identify the victim.

The car that hit the man did not stop. 

The investigation is ongoing.
