Padre Island National Seashore issues no swim warning during holiday

Rip current warning issued for popular seashorev

SAN ANTONIO – Due to a high risk of rip currents, all visitors to Padre Island National Seashore are advised not to swim Tuesday.

The popular beach destination posted a graphic to Facebook Monday explaining how to ‘break the grip of the rip’ if beach-goers get caught in a rip current.

If you're caught in a rip current and can't escape, float or tread water. Do not attempt to fight the current.

The heat advisory will be in the mid to high 100s and all visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks from the heat.
