DeLaRosa received a lung transplant at University Hospital in 2010.

She has been an advocate for donation and transplantation as well for as Donate Life Texas, the official registry for organ, eye and tissue donors.

"In a million years, I never thought I would have such great honor. I never met my organ donor, so this is a huge honor that I will be able to honor my donor and represent not only my donor but all the Texans that received a transplant," DeLaRosa said.

During the event, patients and staff dedicated a rose with a special message of hope to DeLaRosa.

She will place those roses on the Donate Life Rose Parade float just days before the nationally televised parade in Pasadena, California, on New Year's Day.
