Passenger killed in Southwest Side car crash identified

Martin Cruz, 34, died Monday in single-vehicle wreck

SAN ANTONIO – The Bexar County Medical Examiner's office has identified the name of the man killed in a car crash near the intersection of Somerset Road and Southwest Military Drive on Monday night.

34-year-old Martin Cruz, a passenger in the vehicle, died as a result of the single-vehicle wreck.

Witnesses reported the driver was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before the accident, police said.

The driver, a man in his 40s, got out of the mangled car and tried to run, but police captured him a short time later. His identity has yet to be released. 

At this time there is no word if the driver will face any charges.
