Detectives searching for clues after man shot dead in apartment near Fair Oaks Ranch

SAN ANTONIO โ€“ Bexar County sheriffโ€™s detectives are searching for clues connected to the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex not far from Fair Oaks Ranch. In a third floor unit at the Rustico at Fair Oaks apartments, they say they found a man in the living room who had been shot in the face. According to a preliminary report, the man who was shot was about 20 years old. Homicide detectives spent several hours there, searching for evidence and going door-to-door looking for possible witnesses and surveillance video. Investigators ask anyone with information on the crime or who may have noticed anything unusual there to call the Bexar County Sheriffโ€™s Office at (210) 335-6000.

Stretches of I-10 on Northwest Side will be closed for expansion project

Published: December 14, 2020, 10:35 am Updated: December 14, 2020, 10:52 amSAN ANTONIO โ€“ The Texas Department of Transportation will shut down stretches of Interstate 10 this week on the cityโ€™s Northwest Side. The scheduled closures are part of the the departmentโ€™s I-10 expansion project. The closures will allow crews to install digital message boards. The closures will begin on Tuesday and end by early Thursday, according to a news release from the department. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area until the roads are open again.

FAIR OAKS RANCH, Texas โ€“ A woman was killed after a crash involving a golf cart and a large SUV in Fair Oaks Ranch, police say. The woman, who was driving the golf cart, died at the scene, police say. Fair Oaks Ranch police are still investigating the crash. The driver of the SUV was not identified by officers and was not hurt in the crash, police say. Both individuals are residents of Fair Oaks Ranch, according to officials.

Boerne ISD to reopen campuses on Aug. 12 following Texas AGs legal guidance

BOERNE, TX Boerne ISD announced Tuesday that, based on legal guidance from the Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, all of its schools would be allowed to open on Aug. 12 with both in-person and online learning. The district confirmed in a letter to all parents at Van Raub and Fair Oaks Ranch elementary schools that class would be held in Boerne ISD classrooms following Paxton's decision. According to a statement from Boerne ISD, the San Antonio Metropolitan Health Departments health directive, issued July 17, delayed the opening of on-campus instruction until Sept. 7 for all schools in Bexar County. Additionally, the Texas Education Agency stated that campuses that did not offer an in-person educational opportunity would not be funded. Reba has been a family pet for a year and a half along with Wynonna and Patty who are also chickens. She would always jump into our lap to say hi and would follow us around the yard like a pet,โ€ Matthews said.

E. coli discovered in Fair Oaks Ranch raw water well

The K3 raw water well had a sample test positive for E. Coli in Fair Oaks Ranch, city officials confirmed on Friday. Raw water is a mix of groundwater, rainwater and water from wells. The water is tested as a precautionary measure prior to the water entering the distribution system. It must pass all sample tests before going back into service. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has been notified of the situation, city officials said.

Fair Oaks Ranch man gets 5 years for hazing death of LSU fraternity pledge

โ€“ Matthew Naquin, 21, who was found guilty of negligent homicide in the 2017 hazing death of Louisiana State University student Maxwell Gruver, was sentenced to five years in prison, according to CNN. Naquin, of Fair Oaks Ranch, was arrested on hazing charges in Oct. 2017 for making pledges drink alcohol while playing a game called โ€œBible Study,โ€ according to an affidavit. San Antonio-area man found guilty of negligent homicide in LSU hazing deathPledge members of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity were forced to take โ€œpullsโ€ of 190-proof Diesel -- a โ€œpull,โ€ according to the affidavit, is consuming the alcohol for three to five seconds. Naquin and nine other members of the fraternity were arrested on hazing charges related to the incident. Affidavit: Fair Oaks Ranch teen โ€˜most aggressiveโ€™ in alleged LSU pledge memberโ€™s hazing deathGruverโ€™s blood-alcohol level was more than six times the legal driving limit when he died in 2017.
