Anthony Grey was one of the 220 people who showed up at the convention center, hoping to escape a harsh reality at home. Laura Mayes, a spokeswoman for the city, said the warming center will remain open throughout the day Wednesday.

A spokeswoman said Corazon Ministries and SAMM Ministries also picked up meals to distribute to the cityās homeless population. āYouād be amazed by what happens when people come together for the right reasons,ā said Raul Jimenez III, the founderās grandson. The event started in 1979 by his grandfather, a restaurant owner and businessman, to provide seniors and anyone else in need the Thanksgiving dinners they wouldnāt otherwise have. The long-standing tradition involves serving up 25,000 meals at the Convention Center.
