SAN ANTONIO – Family and friends came together Monday to grieve and remember a little girl killed in a tragic accident over the weekend.
Evelyn Villareal, 6, was killed after being run over by her aunt, Adelfa Barron, as she dropped her off at a birthday party.
Barron failed to see the girl as she walked in front of the truck on Saturday. She was airlifted to University Hospital, but later died.
A candlelight rosary was held for the girl at the scene of the accident Monday night.
Family members said she will be buried Friday.
A separate vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Five Palms Elementary, where Villareal was a student.
