SAN ANTONIO – People who donate blood or platelets during the month of December will get a voucher for free food from Bill Miller Bar-B-Q.
The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center announced it had teamed up with the San Antonio barbecue joint to encourage people to donate during the holidays when blood and platelet donations "decline dramatically."

Those who donate blood or platelets between the following dates will receive a voucher for the meal listed:
Dec. 17- 23: Blood donors will receive a coupon for a two-piece fried chicken meal.
Dec. 24- 31, blood donors will receive a coupon for a slice of pie and tea.
Dec. 17-31, platelet donors will receive a coupon for a Bill Miller small family meal.
Platelet and blood donations help many including cancer patients, premature babies and new mothers.
"Cancer patients need platelets to recover from treatment, while trauma victims and surgery patients need platelets to stop their bleeding," a release from STBTC said.
