Alamo Heights Kennel Club donated $500 to cause

SAN ANTONIO – A $500 reward is being offered for information on the person(s) who abandoned a dog in a West Side dumpster last week.

The Alamo Heights Kennel Club made the donation and hopes others will contribute, as well.

The dog, named Millie, was found Wednesday by a passerby at Tampico Street and Sandy Court. She was at the bottom of the dumpster under pizza boxes and other trash.

Animal Care Services was called and took the 5-year-old Labrador retriever to its veterinary facilities.

Millie was having seizures and suffering from heat stroke when she was rescued, ACS said.

ACS officials believe the dog, which was wearing a collar, had an owner.

If no one is arrested in the case, the money will be donated to ACS to offset veterinary costs.

Anyone with information on the person(s) responsible is asked to call 311.
