EDINBURG, Texas โ A little known chapter of Civil War history makes for a dramatic story told in โJust a Ferry Ride to Freedom,โ a documentary produced by the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. The film is based on the choice made by runaway slaves prior to the Civil War, to head south instead of north, to Mexico using another Underground Railroad. The route to freedom would be longer over treacherous terrain between the Nueces and Rio Grande Rivers. Instead, she relied on oral histories with the descendants of those who helped or decided to stay in South Texas, many of whom are now buried in the Rio Grande Valley. They helped other people.โBoth he and Bacha-Garza said the people of the Rio Grande Valley should be proud of its history.
Sharkboy and Lavagirl become parents in new Netflix sequel, โWe Can Be Heroesโ

Taylor Lautner will not be playing Sharkboy; instead, he will be played by J.J. Dashnaw, according to a report from Polygon. This sequel follows a group of children, including Sharkboy and Lavagirlโs daughter, that works to save their parents from an alien invasion. Their daughter is seen having similar powers as her parents, calling upon sharks and sea creatures to assist her in battling enemies.
Multi-day, drive-in EDM, comedy, music performances headed to Freeman Coliseum
Electric-Fiesta has planned for a variety of drive-in performances, including comedy and EDM, for the Freeman Coliseum for Halloween weekend. The multi-day series starts with an interactive sing-a-long edition of the โRocky Horror Picture Showโ and a โnon-essential comedyโ show on Oct. 29. On Oct. 30 and 31, the EDM Drive-In, Volume 2, will call Virtual Riot, Etc! To adhere to social distancing guidelines, venues and promoters have switched to the drive-in experience for movie showings, concerts and performances. This summer, the EDM Drive-In made its debut at the Freeman Coliseum, with towers set up so Bexar County Sheriffโs Office deputies could monitor at a safe distance and officers patrolling the grounds.

San Antonio One local filmmaker is hoping his latest project both entertains and starts a conversation about religious issues that negatively impact certain communities. It is ultimately an examination of extreme hatred.Tucker said it took him two and a half years to get the big production completed. The film has even played in local theaters and is now available on Video On Demand, DVD, and other platforms. I wanted to examine the extreme hatred going on. You will burn in the fiery pits of hell. Homophobic-type of things, Tucker said.
