12 people believed to be connected to human smuggling in custody after vehicle chase into SW Bexar County
DPS troopers took about a dozen people into custody in far Southwest Bexar County who they believe are connected to human smuggling. They say eleven of them appeared to be undocumented immigrants.

Man shot, killed in altercation at Southeast Bexar County home, BCSO says
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County sheriff’s deputies have been questioning several people about a shooting that killed a man in Southeast Bexar County. Deputies say the 24-year-old man was visiting the home on Dubose Road when an argument broke out. They say things escalated, and at some point, the man was shot in his upper body. Deputies did not say who pulled the trigger. The shooting is under investigation, deputies said.

Vehicles, parts from suspected chop shop in SW Bexar County recovered, BCSO says
Bexar County, Texas – Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said his office recovered nine trucks, a trailer and miscellaneous parts, such as tailgates, from a suspected chop shop in Southwest Bexar County. A BCSO spokesman said auto theft investigators got consent to search the property and found the stolen vehicles, which come from San Antonio, Bexar County, Seguin and Live Oak. Many times these these deals are, especially ones where we see that the vehicles are being dismantled, like what we’re seeing here," Salazar said. People previously arrested in relation to the property have faced stolen vehicle charges and were documented gang members. ‘The goal ultimately is to move forward': Community rallies together after man loses home in fire
BEXAR COUNTY – A community is rallying to get a man back on his feet after a fire destroyed his home in Southwest Bexar County. Family of 64-year-old Michael Barrington said he had fallen on hard times but is now left with nothing. Allen Osch said his nephew, Michael, now lives in a tent, only feet away from his former home. Michael was unable to keep up with the bills and the home became all he had. Allen said he has hope his nephew won’t be forgotten in his community.

Officials ID 23-year-old driver ejected, killed in rollover crash on I-35
SAN ANTONIO A 23-year-old driver who died Monday night in a rollover crash on Interstate 35 in Southwest Bexar County has been identified. Jacob Ramos Hernandez, of Somerset, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which happened just after 11 p.m. Monday on the southbound lanes of I-35 at Luckey Road. According to deputies, Hernandez was traveling southbound on the highway in a four-door sedan and struck a small sport utility vehicle from behind. Deputies said the sedan veered off into the center median, went airborne, and Hernandez was ejected from the sedan onto the main lanes of the highway. Deputies said several other vehicles were involved in the crash, however, there werent any other injuries.

The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. on southbound Interstate 35 at Luckey Road. According to deputies, the man was traveling southbound on I-35 south in a four-door sedan and struck a small sport utility vehicle from behind. Thats when, deputies said, the sedan veered off into the center median, went airborne, and the driver was ejected from the sedan onto the main lanes of the highway. Both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-35 near Luckey Road were shut down so emergency crews could investigate.

BCSO: Woman hospitalized after shooting outside house in SW Bexar County
SAN ANTONIO A woman has been hospitalized following a shooting outside a home in Southwest Bexar County. According to the Bexar County Sheriffs Office, the woman was shot around 3:30 a.m. Monday in the 11100 block of Fowler Road. The woman, in her 40s, was outside the house when a gunman in a vehicle opened fire. She was hit by the gunfire and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Deputies say there is no solid description of the vehicle.

Lengthy car chase ends with arrest in Frio County
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County deputies pursued a man for roughly 30 miles after he sped off from them, according to the sheriff’s office. On Thursday morning, a deputy spotted a car driving erratically and cutting off 18-wheeler trucks on I-35 South in Southwest Bexar County, officials said. As a deputy approached the car, the driver sped off, kicking off the pursuit. The deputies were assisted by a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter, Medina County sheriff’s deputies and Frio County sheriff’s deputies. The man eventually attempted to flee on foot inside the Frio County line, Bexar County deputies said.

Body burned beyond recognition found in SW Bexar County
BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A body burned beyond recognition was discovered in a field Tuesday afternoon in Southwest Bexar County, Sheriff Javier Salazar said. A property owner was plowing his field in the 12000 block of Wisdom Road when he made the grisly discovery, Salazar said. The victim is that of a short adult or a large child, Salazar said. The body was so badly decomposed that a sex couldn’t be immediately determined. Salazar said if anyone saw anything suspicious in the area, call BCSO at 210-335-6070.
