Bexar County, San Antonio leaders call for COVID-19 vaccination site on North Side
SAN ANTONIO – Bexar County Precinct 3 Commissioner Trish DeBerry and three San Antonio city council members who represent areas on the North Side are calling on the Metropolitan Health District and the Bexar County Hospital District to co-manage a COVID-19 vaccination site in the northern part of the county. Within the next week, Texas is expected to receive 200,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, which recently received emergency authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. DeBerry says the shipment gives the city and county an opportunity to create a new vaccination site. Two women join Bexar County Commissioners Court, marking first instance in decades
SAN ANTONIO – For the first time several decades, two women will join the male-dominated Bexar County Commissioners Court. A program manager with Metro Health, Rebeca “Becky” Clay Flores, will represent Precinct 1 as the first woman of color on the Commissioners Court. “It is these experiences that continue to fuel me to fight for a better life for the constituents of their county,” Flores said. DeBerry said she understands what it’s like being a small business owner after more than 20 years running her own company. DeBerry said she would like to see what a diverse task force could do to serve small businesses in the county. “Nobody understands a small business more than a small business owner,” DeBerry said. People like successful entrepreneurs, large corporations, and small business owners, so we can have constant conversations about what are the needs.”DeBerry said once the needs are recorded, she would like to look at what resources are available.

Republican Trish DeBerry defeats Democrat Christine Hortick in Precinct 3 race1:17 a.m. — Republican Trish DeBerry has defeated Democrat Christine Hortick in the race for the Bexar County Precinct 3 commissioner seat. 10:23 p.m. — Trish DeBerry remains ahead in the Precinct 3 race against Christine Hortick with 33% of precincts reporting. It’s the only Republican county commissioner seat in Bexar County. 7:14 p.m. — With early votes and a portion of absentee ballots counted in Bexar County, Trish DeBerry has taken a lead over Christine Hortick in the Precinct 3 race. She currently serves as the president of the Bexar County Children’s Court Attorney Association.
