SAN ANTONIO โ Itโs a case of short-term pain for long-term gain as a flood control project in one San Antonio neighborhood is causing some traffic detours. McCullough Avenue is closed between Oblate Drive and Shannon Lee Street for the next few months. Crews started work on phase two of the Barbara Drive drainage project on Jan. 4. The work is more intensive than the first phase, which means that stretch of McCullough Avenue has to close. The $8 million project is being paid for with proceeds from the 2017 bond program approved by voters.

Woman detained by Castle Hills police after vehicle chase
CASTLE Hills, Texas โ Castle Hills police have arrested a woman who they say led them on a vehicle chase in a stolen car early Tuesday morning. According to police, officers were watching an apartment for several days after receiving calls about possible drug trafficking. Police said the woman had left the apartment and got into a previously stolen vehicle. Thatโs when, police said, after noticing officers she led them on a chase down McCullough Avenue, where she almost wrecked on a baseball field. Police said she led officers back to Basse Road just before shredding her tire near West Avenue.
Teen fatally shot in apparent ambush outside home, San Antonio police say
SAN ANTONIO A 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting outside a home on the North Side early Friday, according to San Antonio police. The shooting occurred around 4:30 a.m. in the 7600 block of McCullough Avenue, near Oblate Drive. According to a police sergeant at the scene, the teen walked out of the house to meet with three friends, but one of them ambushed him and shot him in the head. Police said the boys girlfriend was outside the home when the shooting happened. SAPD officers said a teenager was fatally shot around 4:30 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2020, in the 7600 block of McCullough Avenue, near Oblate Drive.
Two victims of major multi-vehicle crash on North Side identified
SAN ANTONIO โ Two victims of a major, multi-vehicle crash on the cityโs North Side last week have been identified. Briana Sorrell, 15, and James Edward Ewell III, 20, were killed in the crash, according to the Medical Examinerโs Office. The crash is believed to have stemmed from a race between two vehicles, traveling south on McCullough, according to San Antonio police. The vehicle traveling from Millwood and crossing through McCullough was clipped by one of the vehicles racing, officials said.
