Driver in custody after short vehicle chase, crash near Castle Hills, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A driver is in police custody following a vehicle chase and crash near Castle Hills early Monday morning, the Castle Hills Police Department said. The incident began around 1:30 a.m. near Blanco Road and Jackson Keller Road. According to police, CHPD officers attempted a traffic stop but the driver instead sped off, turning onto Dresden Drive at a high-rate of speed and then rolling the vehicle over. Police said the vehicle came to a stop between some power lines and a nearby brick wall. The driver had an outstanding warrant and will also be charged with evading arrest, police said.
Apartment fire likely started by homeless people, SAFD says
SAN ANTONIO โ The cityโs homeless population is suspected of starting a fire in a vacant apartment on the cityโs North Side, according to the San Antonio Fire Department. The fire was called in around 9:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Blanco Road, not far from Lockhill Selma Road. Firefighters said when they arrived, smoke had already filled up the top and bottom apartments, but both were vacant. Investigators say they believe some homeless people got into the apartment and started the fire. Both the San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department answered the call.
SAPD investigating 2 North Side robberies both where clerks were held at gunpoint
SAN ANTONIO โ San Antonio police are investigating two late-night robberies that both held a clerk a gunpoint. The first incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at a J&A Grocery in the 3100 block of Blanco Road, not far from Fresno Street on the cityโs North Side. A second robbery then occurred around 11:45 p.m. at a Citgo gas station in the 1300 block of Gardina, not far Vance Jackson Road. In that robbery, two men also walked into the store and robbed the clerk at gunpoint. SAPD said at this point they are not sure if the two robberies are related, but that they did occur not far from one another.

Man out jogging hit by sedan on North Side, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A man in his 30s was hit by a car while jogging early Tuesday morning, San Antonio police said. The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. on Blanco Road near Vista Valet and Vista del Norte on the cityโs North Side. According to police, the man was simply out jogging when he was struck by the sedan. Police said the driver of the sedan stayed at the scene and will not be charged. The injured man was treated by EMS crews.
Man shot trying to break up altercation at North Side gas station, police say
SAN ANTONIO โ A local man was shot trying to break up an altercation at a North Side gas station early Friday morning, San Antonio police said. According to police, a man in his early 20s was yelling at another man inside a vehicle. The shooting victim said something to the driver of the vehicle, and the driver then started arguing with him, police said. Authorities did not say what the altercation was over, or if the man knew the suspects. The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department, and EMS all answered the call.

SAN ANTONIO โ Jen saddles up and heads on up Highway 281 to the town of Blanco to learn about the buggies featured in the 2020 Western Heritage Parade & Cattle Drive. The Buggy Barn Museum sends its visitors on a stroll back in time to learn about the buggies, carriages and wagons of the late 19th century. Several of the buggies featured at the museum have been used in major motion pictures, like True Grit, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, There Will Be Blood and many more. Behind the museum, visitors will find an Old West town, the Pine Moore Old West Studio, where Pistol Packinโ Paula, knife throwers and others put on a show. The town is available to rent for movies, television series, commercials, weddings and parties.
Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle while trying to cross Blanco Road
SAN ANTONIO โ A 52-year-old woman was hit and killed by a vehicle while attempting to cross a North Side street Sunday night, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. in the 10700 block of Blanco Road, near the intersection of West Avenue. According to police, Hermenegilda Fuentes Loa was trying to cross Blanco from west to east when she was struck by a 2008 blue Lincoln traveling northbound. Police said Loa was wearing dark clothing and not in a crosswalk when she was hit. Authorities said the area is dimly lit and that the driver of the vehicle did stop to render aid.
Driver escapes serious injury in North Side rollover crash
SAN ANTONIO โ A local driver avoided serious injury following a rollover crash on the cityโs North Side late Monday night, San Antonio police said. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. near Blanco Road and Hildebrand Avenue. According to police, the car crashed into a second vehicle, rolling onto its side after one of them ran a red light. One of the drivers was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver was treated by EMS and released at the scene.
