SAN ANTONIO – A 46-year-old man led law enforcement officers on a chase in Atascosa and Bexar counties Tuesday morning before he was shot near an elementary school, officials said. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, said Deputy Johnny Garcia, a Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman. As the pickup approached Interstate 37 and Highway 97, the driver shot at officers, Soward said. None of the law enforcement officers were injured. Allen will remain under lockdown for several more hours as law enforcement process the scene.

Garcia said deputies attempted to stop the SUV in the area of Walzem Road and FM 78, but the driver kept going. Deputies gave chase with the San Antonio Police Department’s EAGLE helicopter keeping an eye on things from the sky. Eventually, deputies made their way into Live Oak where the SUV crashed into two others. He slams right into that car and then the black one slams into that one,” said Monica DeHoyos, describing the scene that unfolded later in Live Oak.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said the chase started after an SUV was stolen around 7:30 a.m. in Kirby. Bexar County, Texas – Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said his office recovered nine trucks, a trailer and miscellaneous parts, such as tailgates, from a suspected chop shop in Southwest Bexar County. A BCSO spokesman said auto theft investigators got consent to search the property and found the stolen vehicles, which come from San Antonio, Bexar County, Seguin and Live Oak. Many times these these deals are, especially ones where we see that the vehicles are being dismantled, like what we’re seeing here," Salazar said. SAN ANTONIO – A 58-year-old man who died after he was hit by an 18-wheeler Monday in east Bexar County has been identified. Jose Flores died around 2:30 p.m. in the 400 block of North Abbott Road in St. Hedwig, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. Deputy Johnny Garcia, a spokesman with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, said Flores was dead when deputies arrived at the scene. The driver of the 18-wheeler, which was carrying gravel, was delivering in the area and may have backed into Flores, Garcia said. The driver left the scene, Garcia said, but it’s unclear if the driver knew Flores had been hit.

SAN ANTONIO – An 18-wheeler carrying gravel hit and killed a 58-year-old man Monday near St. Hedwig in east Bexar County. According to Deputy Johnny Garcia, a spokesman with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 2:30 p.m. to the 400 block of North Abbott Road. When deputies arrived, they found the victim, who was a nearby resident, dead at the scene. Garcia said it appears that the driver of the 18-wheeler, who was delivering gravel in the area, may have been backing up when he killed the man. BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A 67-year-old man has been arrested after he shot at a man outside a home in far West Bexar County, the Bexar County Sheriff’s office said. Deputies were called just before 7:30 a.m. Thursday to the 12300 block of Carleson Valley, not far from Highway 90 after receiving reports of someone injured. Johnny Garcia, a BCSO spokesperson, said a man was standing in his front yard when the suspect came up to him with a handgun and fired at him from close range. The man ran to his home around the corner, where deputies caught up with him, Garcia said. The man attempted to get inside, but a deputy used a stun gun to detain him, BCSO said.

SAN ANTONIO A driver is in custody after leading deputies and state troopers on a high-speed vehicle chase in South Bexar County, the Bexar County Sheriffs Office said. The chase began around 9:30 p.m. when Texas Department of Public Safety troopers tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused. According to BCSO, both DPS troopers and deputies chased the vehicle with assistance from SAPDs Eagle helicopter. Johnny Garcia, a BCSO spokesperson, said the vehicle struck a deputys cruiser before finally stopping near Interstate 35 and Southwest Military Drive. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and DPS handled the arrest, Garcia said.

SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead following a wrong-way vehicle crash on southbound Loop 1604 at Highway 90 early Monday morning, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said. Johnny Garcia, a BCSO spokesperson, said the vehicle was traveling the wrong way around 6 a.m. on Loop 1604 and crashed head-on into a dump truck. A passenger and driver in the dump truck were not injured, despite the damage to the front of the truck. The BCSO did not say why the driver was going the wrong way. SAN ANTONIO – A gunman opened fire on a pickup truck Monday afternoon in northeast Bexar County, critically wounding the driver and prompting a lockdown of two nearby schools. Bexar County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Johnny Garcia said the shooting was called in around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Chipping and Neston drives. “My daughter was talking to me in the kitchen and I heard like pop pop pop pop pop. You know, it sounded like firecrackers to me,” said Teddi Padilla, a grandmother who lives near the area. Padilla said she had no idea what was going on until she tried picking her grandsons up from school.
