Community mourns Comal County Sheriffโ€™s Office detective who died suddenly

COMAL COUNTY, Texas โ€“ The community is mourning a Comal County Sheriffโ€™s Office detective who died suddenly. Detective Christopher Parra started his career with the Comal County Sheriffโ€™s Office in 2015. He was also a combat Marine veteran who was honorably discharged in 2014 as a sergeant. Suspect identified in fatal stabbing of Comal man, police say

COMAL COUNTY, Texas โ€“ The Comal County Sheriffโ€™s Office has identified the victim in a fatal stabbing that happened on Sunday, and apprehended a suspect in the case. โ€œDeputies with the Comal County Directed Deployment unit located the vehicle described as a gold Toyota Camry traveling on FM 2673 in Startzville. Davis was taken into custody and transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning, the Sheriffโ€™s Office said. The Sheriffโ€™s Office said Davis confessed to the stabbing and is currently being held at the Comal County Jail. The investigation by Detectives with Comal County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the Texas Rangers is ongoing.

400+ grams of drugs, gun seized in Comal County

COMAL COUNTY, Texas - More than 400 grams of various drugs are now off the streets after a seizure by the Comal County Sheriff's Office. On Monday, deputies stopped a vehicle for speeding and found the drugs, which included Ecstasy, Xanax, THC oil and marijuana. A gun was also taken. Schertz police investigating two travel trailer thefts from same storage facility

SCHERTZ, Texas - Within hours of KSAT airing a story about the theft of a travel trailer belonging to newly retired U.S. Army Maj. David Johnson, Schertz police said they were notified that the Comal County Sheriff's Office had discovered Johnson's trailer in the community of Garden Ridge. Now, Ivey has another travel trailer theft that he's investigating from the same Lockaway Storage facility in Schertz. The trailer belonging to Joseph Rushlow was stolen about the same time last month, Ivey said. Rushlow said his trailer was left on someone's property and that person called Cibolo police about a suspicious vehicle. When Johnson saw his travel trailer Thursday for the first time since it was stolen, he said it also was trashed.

Comal County Sheriff's Office warning residents about scam calls

COMAL COUNTY, Texas - The Comal County Sheriff's Office is warning people about a scam call. In a Facebook post, the department said the call appears to be coming from the Sheriff's Office or another county office. The caller claims there is a warrant for the person for reasons such as failing to appear for jury duty or for writing hot checks. The caller then demands immediate payment to avoid arrest, the Sheriffs Office said. The Sheriff's Office said it does not make threatening calls and will never demand payment over the phone.

San Antonio professor drowns in Canyon Lake

CANYON LAKE, Texas - Cary Guffey has been identified as the man who drowned in Canyon Lake on Wednesday. Guffey, 53, was a biology professor at Our Lady of the Lake University for more than 20 years, school officials said. We ask for prayers for the Guffey family and the entire OLLU family at this time. This is the third reported drowning of a San Antonio resident in the last week. Search crews found the body of a missing San Antonio man in the Guadalupe River on July 11 and another man drowned at Mustang Island Beach on Tuesday.

Man found dead in trailer in Comal Co.

COMAL COUNTY, Texas - The Comal County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man's body was found late Thursday morning, according to Captain Tommy Ward. Authorities said the man, in his 50s, was discovered in a travel trailer parked next to his business, the Lakeview Cafe. An employee of the restaurant found the man, who lived in the trailer, in the 12800 block of FM 306 near Canyon Lake. A sheriff's office spokesman said there were no signs of trauma and nothing so far suggests foul play. The name of the man has not yet been released.
