SAN ANTONIO – Update (4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16): H-E-B has added water to the list of purchasing limits during the winter weather storm. H-E-B stores in San Antonio are expected to open at noon and close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. After snow fell Sunday night into Monday, San Antonio will stay below freezing temperatures until sometime Tuesday afternoon. Original (7 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15): H-E-B stores have placed a purchasing limit on propane tanks during the winter storm that has struck Central and South Texas. San Antonio and Hill Country H-E-B stores will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Market stores will operate on that schedule.

SAN ANTONIO – It’s a January Winter Wonderland! Or at least, that’s how it looks to some Texans across the state who are seeing snowfall on Sunday. KSAT meteorologists reported that parts of the state, specifically Central and Northern Texas, will experience a storm system allowing “some measurable snow to fall.”Parts of Austin, and even closer to San Antonio, parts of the Hill Country have spotted snow flurries. It was on this day in 2017, that widespread snowfall fell across Central and South Texas. As the cold air settled into the area, a storm system helped to develop areas of snow. The Hill Country saw accumulations in the morning, while San Antonio and points south saw winter weather during the nighttime hours. Officially San Antonio International Airport picked up 1.9″ of snow. It was the largest snowfall since the record-setting 1985 snow event and it ranks as the second earliest measurable snowfall for San Antonio since records have been kept (earliest was November 23, 1957).

HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas – Hidalgo County became the second Texas county keeping its polling locations open an extra hour, until 8 p.m. Central, after technical problems slowed voting early in the day. The county’s elections department said 10 of their locations experienced technical issues. "Making sure our voters have the opportunity to cast their ballot is our utmost priority," said Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Yvonne Ramón in a statement. “Extending the closure of the polls to 8 p.m. will provide that opportunity to the voters of Hidalgo County.”The elections department said the problems were due to “laptop check-in issues.” Although currently all 74 county polling locations are operating, several of them had to postpone opening this morning, according to the Texas Civil Rights Project. — Juan Pablo GarnhamRELATED:
