Holiday movies are coming to San Antonio drive-in theater
SAN ANTONIO – COVID-19 cases are once again on the rise in Texas and you may be feeling a little restless at home. If you’re looking for a way to get out of the house in a socially-distanced way, you might consider a drive-in movie. The Drive-In at Fiesta Texas, hosted by Rooftop Cinema Club is located just outside the front gates of Six Flags Fiesta Texas and is showing holiday classics throughout the rest of the world’s longest year. SAN ANTONIO – Ghouls and goblins have been replaced with Christmas trees and "massive stacks of presents” at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. Six Flags on Monday announced Fiesta Texas will still host Holiday in the Park this year despite a surge in COVID-19 cases across the U.S., but things may look a little different. Fiesta Texas will have no indoor shows this year, but the park will have outdoor holiday decor, millions of LED lights and socially distanced meets-and-greets with characters. Officials with the amusement park chain say the modified version of Holiday in the Park gives guests an “immersive and thrilling holiday celebration in a safe, outdoor environment.”Holiday in the Park is one of several places in San Antonio to see holiday lights. Along with the lights, Fiesta Texas will have Christmas trees, giant ornaments, “massive stacks of presents” and “larger-than-life toys" for photo opportunities.

Many attractions around San Antonio are planning for scary business as usual — under social distancing guidelines, that is. The San Antonio Zoo, Six Flag Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio are among the places offering a modified version of Halloween activities due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ripley’s Haunted Adventure San Antonio: The Alamo Plaza attraction that bills itself as “San Antonio’s longest-running haunted house” remains open year-round. San Antonio Zoo: Zoo Boo! is included with admission into the San Antonio Zoo, but is free for annual pass holders and members.
San Marcos to reopen river access, city parks after ‘steady decline’ in COVID-19 cases
SAN MARCOS, Texas – It’s double good news for San Marcos as city officials announced they are reopening river access and most city parks because the city “has experienced a steady decline in active [COVID-19] cases and a sustained low number of new cases with fewer hospitalizations.”Public facilities, riverfront parks, neighborhood park playgrounds, athletic complexes, tennis and basketball courts are expected to open Sept. 16 at 8 a.m. and the Children’s Park Playscape is expected to reopen Sept. 18. Capes Park, Thompson’s Island, and Rio Vista pool will remain closed, according to San Marcos city officials. Access to park amenities like picnic tables and pavilions will still be limited and barbecue grills and pop-up shelters are not permitted, city officials said. Metallica fans to be partially refunded after missing portion of drive-in concert at Fiesta Texas
SAN ANTONIO – The omission of a large chunk of Metallica’s drive-in concert was sad but true for the fans who made their way to Six Flags Fiesta Texas on Saturday night, but the band isn’t leaving them cheated. A spokesperson said fans will receive a $50 refund of their $115-per-vehicle admission. Encore Drive-In announced the concert, which was shot especially for the drive-in series in Northern California and edited for the show, on Aug. 10. Encore Drive-In has not yet released a statement to KSAT.com and has not said why the opening set and first three Metallica songs were missing. The San Antonio Current, which first reported the story, said fans missed about an hour total of the drive-in performances.

Hallowfest will return to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, but without haunted houses or indoor shows
SAN ANTONIO Halloween is still a go for now but it wont look quite the same at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The amusement park has set the dates of Hallowfest for Sept. 19-Nov. 1, with a series of socially-distanced events in place. But fans will notice a major change this year: no indoor mazes, haunted houses or indoor shows due to COVID-19. 1, a show at Sundance Theater in Crackaxle Canyon, and Terror at Teatro at Teatro Fiesta. Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington will also hold a Hallowfest this year.

Tickets to see the country superstars concert, which will be broadcast at 300 drive-in theaters across the nation, went on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. The June 27 concert will be shown at Six Flags Fiesta Texas at 11:15 p.m. and at The Stars and Stripes Drive-In at New Braunfels at 9 p.m.Tickets are $100 per vehicle and there is a limit to six people per vehicle. New reservation system put in place at Six Flags theme parks to ensure proper social distancing
SAN ANTONIO – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is putting a new system in place when they reopen to ensure proper social distancing. According to a press release, the new guest reservation system is the new process that will allow parks to manage daily attendance levels and avoid overcrowding in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control recommendations. SAN ANTONIO – Six Flags Entertainment Corporation will extend the closure of its theme parks, including Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, due to the effects of the novel coronavirus. The parks will remain closed until at least mid-May, the theme park operator announced Monday. San Antonio parks could be forced to close after groups are seen congregatingThe changes still allow employees to keep their existing health plans, the company said. COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new virus, stands for coronavirus disease 2019.
